It has been an honor and a privilege to serve in the United States Department of Justice for over a decade under both Attorney General Janet Reno and Attorney General John Ashcroft. Prior to establishing my law practice in Poughkeepsie, I served as an assistant federal defender and assistant U.S. attorney, chairing felony trials and arguing federal appeals:
1990 – 1992 | Federal law clerk, U.S. District Court in the District of Maryland |
1992 – 1998 | Assistant Federal Defender for the Eastern District of Tennessee. As an assistant federal defender, I first chaired felony criminal trials as defense counsel. I also briefed and argued numerous appeals before the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals. |
1998 – 2002 | Assistant United States attorney for the Northern District of Alabama. I first chaired felony trials as defense counsel; briefed and argued appeals before the 11th and 6th Circuit Courts of Appeals. I was an assistant United States attorney from 1998 to 2002. |
Today: A Continuing Focus On Service And Community

I became a “people’s attorney” to provide quality legal services to my community, including the poor, indigent, women in distress, and anyone who has been discriminated against due to age, race, gender, religion, immigration status, etc.
My track record of community service and involvement goes back to being a founding member of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Chattanooga, Tennessee Chapter.
